  1. create something like zBrush stroke roll

    zBrush has one cool option for stroke. It is Roll. It is realy powerfull thing! I can't find something like this in painter.
    I create simple test in zBrush and Substance Painter. I used the same alpha for test.

    Add a python api Painter similar to the one implemented in Designer.

  3. Headlight from camera

    Sometimes you're not able to see your model well because of lighting, for example from bottom. Or you should rotate panorama each time you change your view. It's tiresome.
    What if we had a headlight option to see our material behavior independently of our view position. Or maybe panorama rotation linked to camera's -the same effect.

  4. Merge File

    As an outsource partner I run into this regularly where someone makes an asset and its not all in the same painter scene. which causes extreme confusion and a lack of ability to look at an asset as a whole outside of marmoset.

    SO! I propose that being able to merge painter files, much like you can merge max scene into one file.

    I mean it couldn't be insanely difficult as each mesh element has its own separate material applied, therefore would display the same way in the painter scene as it would if it was set up that way…

  5. Polygon Fill needs projection toggle

    Polygon Fill needs toggle to turn off projecting through the mesh, so just what's present gets selected, not everything projected through to the backside of the model as well.
    I often just want to select a rectangular patch, especially in quick mask, and have to carefully deselect everything behind it after the fact every time.

  6. Painting on a Different UV Channel

    Video game environement artists still use a lot of tilling textures as UV1. So we need to paint on a different UV Channel UV2 or 3 like this we will be hable to paint all over a huge object. Currently as we can just use the UV1 channel painting result on repetition everywhere ... So we can't create diversity.

  7. Bridge with Affinity Photo

    Make a bridge/link like the one with photoshop, but with Affinity Photo. Send the channels to Affinity Photo to make adjustments and go back to Substance Painter with the changes.

  8. ability to flip/reverse active brush/tool

    useful for mirroring asymmetrical details like vents etc....
    currently when stamping normals or height details I have to have 2 tools, one for each side mirroring the other. Can't use most default alphas and normals because of that.

  9. Autoreload textures.

    When you import textures to shelf it would be awesome, if they could automatically reloading if they were edited in PS or another package, and they also should reloading in the channels.

  10. Opacity Map baking in Painter

    Right now in order to bake an Opacity map you must bake it in Designer, then export the map into Painter.

    It would be helpful to have access to the same Opacity baking capabilities inside Painter itself.

  11. Merge Layers like in Photoshop

    That acutally should reduce computation time. I decide which layer convert to bitmaps before exporting, because even en 2048 by 2048 some detailed layers can get really heavy to export, but that's because the package has to lay down all the information while exporting, that's not smart.

  12. More height (normal map) controls - low/mid/high frequency, bevel shape (curve), NDO-style

    Currently (v1.5) we can only set height's intensity. It would make height much more useful if we had fine control over how the height map is interpreted.
    NDO is so powerful - has many presets for bricks, bolts, concrete etc. - just because it has the ability to control resulting bevel's shape. So it's easy to create a preset which adapts to a specific need.
    B2M has simple separate low/mid/high frequency settings, which is sufficient for many situations.

  13. uv unwrapping within painter

    Hi! It would be great to have a UV unwrapping sytem inside Painter.
    This way you could work the whole time inside of SP and not jumping from your 3D app to SP.

  14. Smooth Brush when we hold down [Shift]

    Smooth Brush when we hold down [Shift] and change hdri rotate to [shift+ctrl] or something

    i think this would be e very user friendly feature after you get uset to it because sometimes you want to smudge right after you paint something like in zbrush for example, when vertex painting it became second nature to smooth something instead of switching to the eraser then setting up the eraser to be smooth and pressure sensitive flow

  15. DragRect functionality for brus1he

    It would be great to have DragRect-like functionality from zbrush in Painter.
    The feature I am desribing allows to drop texture/brush/alpha in a specific location and while still holding the LMB rotate it and change its scale for precision placing.

    It would be perfect for decals/custom alphas.

  16. copy/paste content between channels

    One big attribute I miss from Mari, is their ability to copy/paste between channels. As it is now, if I lay down some texture in color, then later decide that I want it to inform the height, there's no way to do that without painting it all over again.

  18. Import photoshop ABR brush file and CSH file

  19. Grids, Snapping, Guides + 2D View Improvements

    2D-View Grid with Snapping/Toggle functionality (Similar to Photoshop). Photoshop-Style drag-in guides (with snap ability).

    Ability to snap the grid to either the view-port or the texture, so you can move them independently and line them up however you please.

  20. Adding the ability to TAB between values

    Clicking on the numeric value instead of the pencil icon and the tabbing through the parameter list to enter discrete values.
